Easter Recap (part 4)

Riley came over and played for a couple hours Sunday evening (so we could give him a little "prize" for Easter). We played with his cars and Playdoh. He petted Tinsley. And of course the ball was thrown around in the house.

At one point Riley and Anthony were playing and they disappeared for a few minutes and got unusually quiet. I figured I'd be beckoned to "find" them. Nope. Riley came and said (ever so politely), Me and Anthony are layin' on the bed restin'. Would you like to join us? MY answer? OF COURSE! ha When I went in there Riley laid between Anthony and me and he said "get closer." Apparently he likes to snuggle. As he played, every once in a while he'd come over to one of us and hug or kiss us and say "I love you." Awww, sweet boy.

Easter Recap (part 3)

After church we had our Easter meal with Anthony's fam. There was a sugar cured ham and all kinds of fixins y'all. It was tasty! (It's apparently a Tums weekend! I overate again.)

The weather didn't really cooperate, but we hung out on the carport and enjoyed ourselves any the hoo. Just more QFT....

I "helped" Dawson with the sidewalk chalk. He obviously needed my assistance.
We let "Mema" know where her car was in case she gets a bad case of "old timer's" he he

Uncle Anthony helped Dawson check on the fish in the little pond out back.
One of those fish is about 15 years old.

Love bubbles, don't you?!

 Me and my honey
(you can tell he LOVES pics, right?)

Dawson doesn't like his picture taken...(much like his uncle) and at first he was grinnin' up at the sky, so when I told him to lower his chin, we got this goofy expression...

This little furball is the queen of the house, don't let anyone kid ya. Matty, did the Easter bunny leave you a present?

Easter Recap (part 2)

Church is always a part of our Easter celebration. We had a drama and Dad preached. It was really good. I didn't take pics of the drama (I know you're shocked), but trust me, it was good. Sasha's hubby Phil is ridiculous with some theater makeup and Jesus left a trail of blood all the way up the center aisle as he carried the cross. I think we oughta leave it. As a reminder, ya know? Anyway, there were some people who were saved at the end of service. YAY! Angels are rejoicing about that ! ! !
These two started it all...my family that is...it's my mom and dad...
they were married in good ole 1965.
These two... they are about to adopt a couple kiddos from Haiti.
Jonathan is my OLDEST bro. A WHOLE TEN YEARS OLDER THAN ME.
These two, well you've seen us plenty. ha Idk why I look so FAT in this pic.
I always blame it on a bad angle... ha!
These two are the newliestweds of the fam. Comin' up on two years.
Sasha is my only-est niece.
These two are a mess. Sweet nephews! I couldn't decide which pic I liked best,
so of course I attached em both!
(Sorry no pic of their mom and dad...not sure how that happened)
Next year I'll try to take some pics of some part of the service...maybe.

Easter 2011 Recap (Part 1)

First things first.
Friday we worked hard on cleaning our house because my fam-uh-lee was comin' over for dinner. We celebrated a smidge early. That actually worked out pretty well. We ate bbq, just a-keepin' it real. No linen tablecloths here folks. Elbows on the table are encouraged. There was also mac 'n cheese, corn, baked beans, cheesy potato casserole, derby pie and peach cobbler. Oh, and of course sweet tea. This IS the south after all.
I ate til I was full...too full. Ugh, where are the Tums?

We hung out, talked, laughed - all that good stuff. The boys threw football for a few minutes outside (a very few) but we didn't really do anything. Kids are all too big for egg hunts. I reckon it was just QFT. Quality family time. (You like that? I made it up just now. All on my own. Just me. Nobody helped.)

This is me, my two bros, my mom and my dad. Ain't we sweet lookin' ?! Don't be fooled people.

Good Friday with the fam...hurry up~

Just have a minute, but wanted to post somethin... I'm sittin here waitin for my fam to get here and eat some barrrr-beeeee-cuuuuuue. Not the traditional Easter meal-io no, but who cares?! I've busted my rear all day a-cleanin' and scrubbin' and this is the first time I've had a spare minute to sit down. Anth went to get the barbecue and had to come back home cuz he had forgotten his wallet. Silly head! Everything's clean (I hope) and the food is warmin' itself in the oven. Smells yummy too I might add.

More on this event later y'all.

Road trip (but it's not what you're thinkin')

By now, you know I'm kinda in love with a little boy named Riley, right? Well, in case you didn't know, his mom is a GREAT friend o' mine, too. She had her spring choir show this week and asked me to sing Real Gone (from the Disney movie Cars, performed by Sheryl Crow) as a filler act. Of course I'm always up for singin' and an opportunity to dress the part AND of course a chance to see Riley... the show's theme was "Road Trip" and every song (in some way) had to do with travel. At the end of Life Is A Highway, guess who rode out in an authentic, one of a kind Lightning McQueen replica?!

Ok, so maybe it's not authentic or one of a kind, but it's flippin' cute when you put a sweet, adorable three year old boy in the driver's seat ain't it?!

You know there are Riley stories comin' right? When I got there and spied the boy I went up to him to get my hug. His first question: What are you doing here Lyndy? Second question: Where is Anthony? I told him he was coming later. He was mowing the yard...I immediately texted Anthony and said you better come, Riley's askin' for ya. So he came a little late. Anthony said when he got there and Riley spotted him he acted so surprised and ran right to him. Awwww
After I finished my song and returned to the seats, Riley was in Anthony's lap. Again, aww. Riley asked me, "Why are you dressed like Lightning?" I told him because I was singing his song. He scrunched his perfect little face up into a scowl and said "I don't like it. I want you to take it off." I laughed.

Retreat...why only once a year?!

So spring time is not only great because the weather is nice and God is showing his beauty through the beautiful blooms and things... it's also the time of year we have our annual ladies retreat at church! WoO hoO!

It's always a lot of fun and a great time to get closer to God (and to each other, you know, sisters in Christ).

Friday night we kept it casual... there was funny stuff...
 And games...

Ever try to pass a ball using only your armpits? It's harder than you think.

Ever unscrew an Oreo, stick the Oreo on your forehead (sticky side down) and try to wiggle and scrunch til it gets in your mouth so you can eat it? You can't use your hands by the way... it's not as easy as it sounds...
Oh, and sorry about the Oreo breakin' out your forehead Bridge. My bad.
Ever pass an index card using only your mouth? It's waaay harder than you think. Sorry the germ-o-phobes didn't get to play this game. They missed out. Or did they? It was pretty stinkin' hilarious to watch... the gals looked like they was a-kissin' he he he

On to the serious stuff...

Our speaker was fantastic (a wonderful lady in our church) and the final piece was the thing that brought it all full circle. We were all asked to choose a cloth that represented something we were struggling with or something that someone we know was dealing with so that we could pray about it. One at a time we came up and attached the cloth to the robe of Jesus (played by our sweet sister, Debbie). After all, we're supposed to cast all our cares on Him, right? I chose the COMPLAINING cloth. I do that way too much. Lord forgive me!
There were things shared in this ultra mega super duper special time that I can't even really explain and probably shouldn't even try to. God was in that hotel in a mighty way that day and for that I'm thankful.
Hugs not drugs. This is Sharon - she was our speaker and that's her goody basket o' thanks. (Thanks Michelle for grabbing my camera and taking this un.)
And this blog entry would be like a cupcake without icing if I didn't show ya my bunch. This here's me, my mom, my two sisters-in-law and my niecy-poo. Ain't we cute?!

What a week

I didn't mention it in my last post, but a couple days before my big partaay, I got myself a lovely sinus infection. Yep, showed up on the doorstep like that unwanted long-lost cousin that talks incessantly, snores and has smelly feet. Well, cousin Mucus is still hangin' around thanks to this weather that's flip floppin' worse than a fish outta water. But I'm done with the antibiotics and steroids, so.... idk

Saturday was my final photography class. :-) :-( Mixed emotions on that. It was fun and I learned a lot but I'm ready to put the ole camera down for a minute. Let someone else be creative and capture a moment. I'm takin' me a break.

Alas, it's 80 outside and I should be happy 'bout that, but see paragraph 1 above. Oh, and did I mention I had "tummy trouble" this weekend? A shout out to John Heath on that one Tyla ;-) She's one of my blogger buddies over at Tire Swings and Fireflies and has a young un that gives her plenty o' material for funny blog posts.

Have a good week y'all. This here weekend is almost over.

my thirty-one party

So about 20 friends and family (of the female kind) piled into my house Friday night for a thirty-one party. Thirty-one started out with a lady who wanted to help busy moms (like herself) shop for cute things and maybe even help their families out by earning a little extra dough. She called it thirty-one because of Proverbs 31... shouldn't we all strive to be that woman? Read it if you haven't. It'll inspire ya.

So anyway... the party was pretty fab. You shoulda been there. I loved hangin' out with my gal pals and eatin' and playin' and laughin' and stuff.
a whole lotta shoppin' goin' on

I kinda ended up being a babysitter a good part o' the night, which was fine by me.
I loves the kiddos! My friends have some sweetie pies, too! And it's so cool how the three, who had previously never met, played so well together. Adults could sure take a lesson from these toddler-poo's.
Oh and of course you know how it goes - you work and stress, spend days getting ready for a thing like this and wouldn't ya know it? After everyone was gone (except 2 or 3) I see some dust I missed on the outside edge of the stairs (you know, the little edge past the spindles) and wanted to die. Maybe no one noticed!  Then the next day I realized there was a little dust and/or a bit of a spidey web on the light fixture above the kitchen island. My hope is that the gals were more fixated on what lay beneath the light: the lasagna, garlic bread, taco soup, sausage rotel crescent thingy, oreo balls, chocolate chocolate chip muffins and key lime pie instead of that pesky overlooked cleaning mistake. hehe

Now to decide what to choose for my thirty-one freebies. Decisions, decisions...

Things I learned this weekend...

Things I learned this weekend:
  • I love birthdays, regardless of who's celebrating, as long as I'm invited along, too                                                                   GUESS WHO'S THREE?! Or should I say tres? Feliz cumpleanos Riley!
  • Cleaning house and working on the yard to prepare for hosting a thirty-one party poops ya out (but I'm always amazed at how many unfinished projects suddenly get done when I'm trying to prepare for company...e.g., those boxes of crap stuff that have been sitting in the spare bedroom for 3 1/2 years have been sorted, stored, trashed or given away...YAY me!)
  • If you run to Target without a shower you WILL run into someone you know, guaranteed!
  • Running into a friend at Target can be beneficial, if that friend happens to be the mother of a sweet boy whose birthday party is Sunday and lets you know you got a gift for him he already has. Operation switcheroo - ON!
  • Grilling steaks at home tastes way yummier than steak at a restaurant. Idk why!
  • Trying to take a picture of a "super moon" is not for this ole gal. I'd rather be curled up on the couch with my sweetie and/or the kitty
  • Getting in bed late two nights in a row makes Lyndy morph into a grumpy gus
  • Kid's birthday parties are fun, especially when they're outside and it's an unusually warm, gorgeous spring day
  • You must DUCK when you're climbing in a jungle gym. They're not designed for people over 42 inches tall. You will hit your head and you will get a goose egg, which will hurt for 3 days (so far)...

  • Sometimes you just gotta go for the gusto and order some sugary, calorie ridden pancakes for dinner at the Barrel (life is too short to always eat healthy) Oh and don't forget the bacon!
  • And it's possible to feel like you're stuck in a belt. Yes, I said a belt. As in the kind that you wear. With jeans. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love my American Eagle jeans, but I don't think they'd like it at work if I wore 'em every day. Forever. . . after about 5 minutes I got the doggone thing off. It was upside down. And belts ain't meant to be upside down people. (Does this make you feel better about yourself? I also routinely forget to zip my pants. I don't know why. It's a mental lapse I guess. Thank goodness for long shirt tails.)
