Anthony and I helped judge the high school talent show one night this week and a certain cutie pie sat in my lap most of the show...
When I complimented his little guitar tshirt and said he should let me borrow it he replied, "It's too small." Smart kid. And of course he had to borrow my mechanical pencil - well, when I was pushing the lead in with my finger he said, "Don't hurt yourself." What a sweetie!
Then there was the candy... ah, the candy... so they always give us a cutesy container of candy and a drink to either enjoy during the show or to take home as a little thank you... there were Lindor chocolate truffles, mini Reese's peanut butter cups and tootsie pops. He started with the cherry tootsie pop, but quickly discarded it. On to the Reese's. After he ate a few (I lost count I will admit), he apparently decided the Reese's cups would make for some good stacking. I was trying desperately to appreciate his cuteness while still paying attention to the performers so I could score them. Seriously, I don't know how many Reese's cups were consumed and/or played with but the stack of trash on our table was starting to look a mess. Then there was the sticky ooey gooey chocolatey 2 year old's hands. Yikes! But I was so proud of myself - I had a spare (clean) napkin in my purse and they had given us a bottled water so bada bing bada boom, homemade baby wipe (sorta). We got all cleaned up, but not before my AE jeans took a hit of the chocolate variety and a good splash o' water on the right thigh. I pushed the trash and "toy" Reese's to the end of the table out of reach of Mr. I Wanna Play with my Candy Instead of Eat It. Disaster (kinda) averted.
The talent show was entertaining, but even better was gettin' to hang with Riley for a couple hours. Love that kid! If I thought I could steal him I would, but I think I'd have a fight on my hands cuz he's popular with all his mom's students ...
