February Photo a Day project PART 1

I follow a blog and you should, too... Tyla is quite the storyteller. Tyla's blog

She was talkin about a photo a day project and dude, I AM IN ! ! !

Thanks to Nest of Posies for the project. Gotta link ya to 'em cuz that's the thing we bloggers do. Gotta give credit where credit is due.

I have a dumb phone. (translation: Santa did NOT bring me an iPhone mainly because my Verizon upgrade eligibility happens Christmas 2012, poo!) So I'm not doing this here project via Instagram. I'm gonna post em in a regular post and also add a page over to the left along with the running log
that I'm sure no one ever reads lol

Well, here goes nuthin...

from my back porch
our wedding rings on my Bible (Song of Solomon to be exact)
Riley didn't even know he was modeling for me
I noticed this cute little old couple at the table beside us at Logan's...
I love that the blue haired lady had her spiffy sneakers on
About to head to church, but the outfit I wore required a purse swap
For dinner tonight, our menu was: breaded ranch chicken, green beans, corn, and a healthy weight veggie medley with sugar snap peas, edamame, carrots, & black beans

So there ya have it. Gimme some feedback.

lemme catch ya up

It's nuthin too exciting, but here's what we've been up to the last few days...

Thursday night
Cullen's last home game as an eighth grader.
little bro & cousin Kerby cheering him on
Kerlandy liked watching the cheerleaders & playing with her Barbie
a bit more than watching the game

Friday Anthony was off so I sent him to Walmart. He loves doing the grocery shopping. What a blessing! So we had a kinda low key date night and just went to dinner.

Saturday morning I rolled outta bed to do my 3 mile run before a certain little cutie pie came to play...
we did a puzzle, played with cars & action figures, threw ball, there was hide & go seek, um pretty much whatever Riley wants to do we do
He laid his well endowed dark haired head
on Anthony's bald head to "give him some hair"
He loves to go to the first landing of the stairs and throw ball. This time the game was played with one of Tinsley's balls and we bounced it on each step.
I asked him what his favorite thing is at preschool and he said "just that I'm learnin." Wow.
When Mom arrived to pick him up the lip instantly pooched out. Aw, it's sweet to be loved. So as he was getting ready to leave I said Riley, why don't you just come live with me & Anthony and be OUR boy instead of Mom's? He turned to his mom and said Mom, what do you think? Lol I didn't expect that one.

Saturday night we went out to dinner with my inlaws. When we got back to their house, we spent a couple hours just visiting. No tv, just chatting. I love when they tell stories about their younger years.

Matty - my mother-in-law's cat
can you say spoiled?

Today we visited a church near my work that a few people I know attend. It wasn't our cup of tea if ya know what I mean. Eh, oh well.

And I'll just admit, the best part of the Super Bowl for me is all the commercials. Entertaining? Yeah. The game? Not so much.

I think my fave was the Honda commercial with Matthew Broderick... a modern day Ferris Bueller parody <3 it

I'm reading a book

For Christmas I asked Santa (aka Anthony) for this book -

I've been readin' it and it's good. It's her autobiography.

Sometime or another in 2011 I caught a series on OWN (Oprah's new cable network) called "Why Not?" and it was basically just following Shania around on her journey of "self discovery."
She talked about
o her marriage with Mutt (and divorce),
o her childhood (she grew up dirt poor & then her parents were killed in a car accident when Shania was 21)
o her inability to sing in public (because of a little thing called F E A R)
and some other stuff here & there....
It was a really good series and it definitely piqued my interest on this Canadian gal. I always kinda dug her music anyway.

I should probably be done with it already but this little thing called

dominates my free time sometimes captures my attention...
But anyway, the book is a good read so far and I just thought I'd tell ya.

tsk tsk weekend, stop goin by so fast

Why is it that Monday through Friday creeps and Saturday and Sunday absolutely SOARS?!

Saturday was busy. Had to do a 3 mile run. (have you noticed my HALF MARATHON TRAINING LOG page I've added? Look to the left over there under "Other Special Stuff")
Bridgett and I headed off early to Camden's basketball game. They won the first game so there was a second game. They won the second game so there was a third but we didn't stay for that one cuz I had to be at Dawson's game. I'm such a good aunt. (gimme a sec while I pat myself on the back)

Bridgett tagged along with us to dinner and we made her pick the place (we have this constant debate over choosing the restaurant) so it was Demos. And it was gooooood.

Today we visited my friend Pennie's church :-)

Do you ever feel like you're havin' a good hair day?

I haven't had a haircut in 47 days. I'm thinkin' about growing it out kinda to a short layered bob. Nothin' too drastic, just a little more length. Say, about an inch or two above my shoulders. We'll see.
 Outdoors
 Indoors
My main only squeeze...
he ain't growin' his hair out tee hee

Tonight I whipped up a recipe that's supposed to be like Zaxby's sauce, but I think it's a little off... had to tweak it some

Here's the recipe, but I thought it was too ketchupy so we added some more mayo, garlic and worcestershire

Zaxby's Sauce
1/2 c Mayo
1/4 c Ketchup

1/2 tsp Garlic
1/4 tsp Worcestershire
Pepper (to taste)

Anyway, here's to a wonderful week... Monday, bring it on cuz Lyndy's ready for ya!

this week in words

It's been one of those busy kinda weeks, ya know?

Monday night Anthony went with a couple dudes to see Contraband. While he was gone, I went to a workout class my friend Angela invited me to. They did that Insanity DVD. Lemme tell ya, they named it right. It was insane. My face was red and my hair was wet like 15 minutes into it. But everyone else was lookin' kinda the same, so ... I hung in there.
When I got home, I took my third shower for the day. I had run 2 miles at lunch so I got so sweaty doin that, it was time for Mister Soap to meet Miss Lyndy. *Side bar: I've apparently lost my loofah that usually lives in my gym bag. That stinks, especially when ya don't discover that said item is lost-o til you're in the shower-o. Ugh.
But anywhooo, I got clean, Anthony liked his movie, so all's well...

Tuesday night we went with Jason & Melissa to see Vandy beat the snot out of Tennessee in hoops. There were a few dunks by those nerds at Vandy so take that you orange lovin' Vols fans. Take summathat.

After the game, we went to this pizza joint their friends own. It was some smack ya momma good pizza.

See? Can't ya almost taste it?

Last night we had to visit the local funeral home. Anthony's step brother had a 95 year old grandmother that passed away. It was one of those celebration type vibes though - she was 95 for cryin' out loud. What a good long life!
After that we went out to a steakhouse with the inlaws. I opted for grilled pork chops and they were on point. Anthony and his mom had strip. Terry stuck with his standard fare - catfish, fried and fresh. Fries to the side. Do it Terry. Wish I could eat like that !

Ready for the weekend ?!  Yes ma'am I AMMMMM

what what? weekend wonders

Saturday
Should've gotten up to get my run in before setting out for an all day Scrapbook Day with my girls at work, but the bed was way too comfy. Eh.

I'm really behind on my scrapbooking, so it was great to work on it with my buds. We share supplies and gadgets so that makes it nice, plus the company is great.

We scrapped from about 9:30 til 4:30. Whew. When I got home from that, I did my 2.5 mile run (in 27 minutes btw) and then grabbed a quick shower before heading out to dinner with my man and our pal Bridgett.

Sunday
Today we went to church where Mom and Dad go.

You may recognize these little sweetie pies...

And Caleb said 84 days til he's off to basic training... yeah, he's joining the army I reckon.
Kerlandy sat between Nanny and Pa Pa during church, but she looked back at us a bunch with her big ole sweet smile.
Kerby sat with us, as in between me and Anthony. Apparently he keeps reminding his mom and dad that he wants to go to Uncle Anthony's house to play games. We gotta get that scheduled ASAP.
Went to lunch after church with friends, then I headed off to a baby sprinkle. Yeah, as in not quite a SHOWER, but just a sprinkle... tee hee
It's a gonna be a BOY and he's gonna be named Sawyer. I like the name, don't you? Of course I dig unique names.
Jen's friend Teresa made this after she saw it on Pinterest. She figured out how to do it on her own, and it was FAB. Those rolled up thingies are diapers.
Notice the name across the top?! Nice touch.
H U G S
Big sis is excited about the baby to be... although she mighta wished it to be a girl. Ha  She'll be like a momma to little Sawyer, no doubt. She's 14 goin on 30...mature gal. Proly knows more about pregnancy and caring for babies than me... ha

That's kinda how the past two days went for me. Now let's brace up for some storms they say are coming - we may be in the basement next door for a spell...

Sunday & my daddy

You might 'member me tellin' ya about my sweet daddy deciding to stop the pastoring full-time scene and go into full-time evangelism. Maybe you don't. It's okay. I know you have a lot to keep up with. For a memory refresher - the leaving story :-(

Well, this week he's been preaching a revival close by (FINALLY) and we were able to slip away from our church to go hear him. We went Sunday morning and surprised him. Cuz I'm sneaky pete like that. I think he was glad too because after service he hugged me and cried. He's a crier sometimes. It's sweet.

The guy who pastors this church came to our church before he started pastoring and we've known him and his fam only for like ever. They're good people.

Well actually Anthony's kinda kin to the pastor, but where we come from aireebody's kin to aireebody.

Anyhoo, the pastor asked us to do the music for one night of revival. It was so fun (yes it is fun to serve God) and the atmosphere in the service was just wonderful. We went every night except one and really enjoyed hearing Dad preach and being with him and Mom in service together. We haven't been together in church since September.
yeah this is a fake posed pic - I try not to disrupt service with flash photog ... I have a smidge of common sensoroni
SPOTLIGHT ON BW (boom boom) Can't leave him out - he was kinda hidden in the group pic.
Wouldn't want him gettin' an inferiority complex

James 5:14 Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord.

If the weather hadn't gone all JANUARY SNOWY on us, we'd a been there tonight again. Oh well. It was real good while it lasted. Real good.

I'm so very blessed to have parents that have always lived a great example in front of me and took us kiddos to church and taught us about God. Cuz I'm tellin'  ya, there are days that God carries me. I can't imagine Him not being a part of my life. And it all started with the two folks I call Mom and Dad.

This was our Saturday

Saturdays are supposed to be lazy, do anything ya want days, right?
We had things to do and places to be on Saturday.
It went something like this.

8:30ish - hope outta  bed, eat oatmeal & drink a little water before heading out to run 2 miles

9:30ish - shower & get presentable for the day's events

11:15 - Camden's basketball game

This was only mine & Anthony's second visit with Kerby & Kerlandy since they became a part of the fam on Christmas Day.

1:00 - Christmas dinner with my mom's side (they do it in recent years on the 1st Saturday in January because everybody's soooo bizzy)
My cousin's 7 week old presh baby girl
She was as tiny as a baby doll.
Pretty sure I'm his favorite niece
No tellin what Anthony and Jonathan were talkin about but I love this candid

The kiddos played pretty well together - Kerlandy precisely set out
the dishes like they did in the orphanage in Haiti
 Mom and daughter
 Papa and son
Kerby was soooo proud of his personalized hoodie
like every pic I took of him on Saturday he's showing off the name :-P
Kerby informed us that when he plays basketball (here)
he will be THE BEST
Mom with her sisters and brother. Mom's the baby.
We couldn't get the kids to be anything close to still or posed for a pic with us, but I love this shot anyway. It shows their personalities.

3:00 - birthday cake for McKenzie (she turned 14 last week)

4:30 - Dawson's basketball game (Anthony helps coach his team)
No pics because they were running behind schedule like an hour (due to 2 kids puking on the court and one kid passing out...zoinks!) so we went over there and stayed a while, but didn't get to see much of his game. Cuz we had...

6:00 - business meeting at church

After that we went to grab some grub with chums. We had a good time, but all said, I was a pooped pup by the time I hit the hay that night.

I'll tell ya about Sunday's events tomorrow...stay tuned
