I didn't mention it in my last post, but a couple days before my big partaay, I got myself a lovely sinus infection. Yep, showed up on the doorstep like that unwanted long-lost cousin that talks incessantly, snores and has smelly feet. Well, cousin Mucus is still hangin' around thanks to this weather that's flip floppin' worse than a fish outta water. But I'm done with the antibiotics and steroids, so.... idk
Saturday was my final photography class. :-) :-( Mixed emotions on that. It was fun and I learned a lot but I'm ready to put the ole camera down for a minute. Let someone else be creative and capture a moment. I'm takin' me a break.
Alas, it's 80 outside and I should be happy 'bout that, but see paragraph 1 above. Oh, and did I mention I had "tummy trouble" this weekend? A shout out to John Heath on that one Tyla ;-) She's one of my blogger buddies over at Tire Swings and Fireflies and has a young un that gives her plenty o' material for funny blog posts.
Have a good week y'all. This here weekend is almost over.

my thirty-one party
So about 20 friends and family (of the female kind) piled into my house Friday night for a thirty-one party. Thirty-one started out with a lady who wanted to help busy moms (like herself) shop for cute things and maybe even help their families out by earning a little extra dough. She called it thirty-one because of Proverbs 31... shouldn't we all strive to be that woman? Read it if you haven't. It'll inspire ya.
So anyway... the party was pretty fab. You shoulda been there. I loved hangin' out with my gal pals and eatin' and playin' and laughin' and stuff.
Oh and of course you know how it goes - you work and stress, spend days getting ready for a thing like this and wouldn't ya know it? After everyone was gone (except 2 or 3) I see some dust I missed on the outside edge of the stairs (you know, the little edge past the spindles) and wanted to die. Maybe no one noticed! Then the next day I realized there was a little dust and/or a bit of a spidey web on the light fixture above the kitchen island. My hope is that the gals were more fixated on what lay beneath the light: the lasagna, garlic bread, taco soup, sausage rotel crescent thingy, oreo balls, chocolate chocolate chip muffins and key lime pie instead of that pesky overlooked cleaning mistake. hehe
Now to decide what to choose for my thirty-one freebies. Decisions, decisions...

a whole lotta shoppin' goin' on
I kinda ended up being a babysitter a good part o' the night, which was fine by me.
I loves the kiddos! My friends have some sweetie pies, too! And it's so cool how the three, who had previously never met, played so well together. Adults could sure take a lesson from these toddler-poo's. Oh and of course you know how it goes - you work and stress, spend days getting ready for a thing like this and wouldn't ya know it? Things I learned this weekend...
Things I learned this weekend:
- I love birthdays, regardless of who's celebrating, as long as I'm invited along, too
GUESS WHO'S THREE?! Or should I say tres? Feliz cumpleanos Riley! - Cleaning house and working on the yard to prepare for hosting a thirty-one party poops ya out (but I'm always amazed at how many unfinished projects suddenly get done when I'm trying to prepare for company...e.g., those boxes of
crapstuff that have been sitting in the spare bedroom for 3 1/2 years have been sorted, stored, trashed or given away...YAY me!) - If you run to Target without a shower you WILL run into someone you know, guaranteed!
- Running into a friend at Target can be beneficial, if that friend happens to be the mother of a sweet boy whose birthday party is Sunday and lets you know you got a gift for him he already has. Operation switcheroo - ON!
- Grilling steaks at home tastes way yummier than steak at a restaurant. Idk why!
- Trying to take a picture of a "super moon" is not for this ole gal. I'd rather be curled up on the couch with my sweetie and/or the kitty
- Getting in bed late two nights in a row makes Lyndy morph into a grumpy gus
- Kid's birthday parties are fun, especially when they're outside and it's an unusually warm, gorgeous spring day
- You must DUCK when you're climbing in a jungle gym. They're not designed for people over 42 inches tall. You will hit your head and you will get a goose egg, which will hurt for 3 days (so far)...
- Sometimes you just gotta go for the gusto and order some sugary, calorie ridden pancakes for dinner at the Barrel (life is too short to always eat healthy) Oh and don't forget the bacon!
- And it's possible to feel like you're stuck in a belt. Yes, I said a belt. As in the kind that you wear. With jeans. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love my American Eagle jeans, but I don't think they'd like it at work if I wore 'em every day. Forever. . . after about 5 minutes I got the doggone thing off. It was upside down. And belts ain't meant to be upside down people. (Does this make you feel better about yourself? I also routinely forget to zip my pants. I don't know why. It's a mental lapse I guess. Thank goodness for long shirt tails.)

What's up with me this week...
So what's been up with Lyndy? Busy, busy! Last weekend was GORGEOUS, do you hear me?! On Saturday I washed the car and ran 3.1 miles. Ya see, me and Bridgett, we're probably gonna run us a 5k. Yep, wipe that cockeyed, puzzled, one eyebrow raised look off yer face. Lyndy's gonna run a race. What, what? I'm not too old for that am I?! Anyway, on Sunday (again, remember last weekend was BEE-U-tiful folks) I ran 4 miles. Surprised? I surprised myself. I was proud...and pooped! I had never run that far with no walking break in between segments, see.
Work has been busy, but I won't bore you with that. I'm jealous of a coworker and my sweet buddy Riley... ereebody but me seems to be at Disney World this week. Can somebody please innerduce SPRING BREAK to the work force?! ASAP...
My photography class is going great, by the way. Haven't mentioned that in a while. I've learned SO much. This week's assignment was creativity and that's a challenge for me. But I think I've gotten outside the box a bit and hope my instructor is pleased with the work I'll turn in on Saturday. I don't even want to think about how many hours this week I've spent thinking about the assignment, setting up the shots and actually shooting them.
Wednesday my yoga instructor at the gym said she noticed I've "trimmed down." I beamed. Glowed brighter than a firefly in the hot summer. Of course she was slow to notice (or say somethin') but that's all right. I'll take a compliment any way I can get it.
As warmer weather approaches, I'm coming to the realization I need some new spring gear. Since I was "fluffier" last year during the warm months, I'm struggling to find stuff to wear. So I see a shoppin' trip in my future people. It's a hard job, but I think I'm up for it.

House full o' boys
So I'm a week late. Oh well.
This is what our house looked like last Saturday night...
This is what our house looked like last Saturday night...
Believe it or not, Anthony requested I take this pic. WOW! After years of complaining about pics... maybe there's a glimmer of hope.
Monopoly takes too long to play. Case closed.
A cat's toy ball is also suitable for boys...
Is it just me or does almost every boy spend countless hours playing video games?
And thanks to technology (and the world wide web) there are games online as well. Lucky us.
Happiness comes when the rowdy sweet nephews go home (kidding)...
we really wouldn't mind if they came over every weekend.

A talent show...
Anthony and I helped judge the high school talent show one night this week and a certain cutie pie sat in my lap most of the show...
When I complimented his little guitar tshirt and said he should let me borrow it he replied, "It's too small." Smart kid. And of course he had to borrow my mechanical pencil - well, when I was pushing the lead in with my finger he said, "Don't hurt yourself." What a sweetie!
Then there was the candy... ah, the candy... so they always give us a cutesy container of candy and a drink to either enjoy during the show or to take home as a little thank you... there were Lindor chocolate truffles, mini Reese's peanut butter cups and tootsie pops. He started with the cherry tootsie pop, but quickly discarded it. On to the Reese's. After he ate a few (I lost count I will admit), he apparently decided the Reese's cups would make for some good stacking. I was trying desperately to appreciate his cuteness while still paying attention to the performers so I could score them. Seriously, I don't know how many Reese's cups were consumed and/or played with but the stack of trash on our table was starting to look a mess. Then there was the sticky ooey gooey chocolatey 2 year old's hands. Yikes! But I was so proud of myself - I had a spare (clean) napkin in my purse and they had given us a bottled water so bada bing bada boom, homemade baby wipe (sorta). We got all cleaned up, but not before my AE jeans took a hit of the chocolate variety and a good splash o' water on the right thigh. I pushed the trash and "toy" Reese's to the end of the table out of reach of Mr. I Wanna Play with my Candy Instead of Eat It. Disaster (kinda) averted.
The talent show was entertaining, but even better was gettin' to hang with Riley for a couple hours. Love that kid! If I thought I could steal him I would, but I think I'd have a fight on my hands cuz he's popular with all his mom's students ...

Lunch with the Oak Ridge Boys...kinda
So today we had lunch at The Palm downtown. . . we noticed they were putting up a new caricature on the wall (a super cool thang they do at The Palm) and in a few minutes in strolled the Oak Ridge Boys. We respected their privacy (and didn't want to get thrown outta The Palm before dessert) so we didn't try to get pics WITH 'em, but thank heavens for cell phones, eh?
They were commemorating the release of Elvira, released in 1981, a cool 30 years ago (back when I was merely a child). I saw a shiny record floating around in a frame but again, we were being polite...so....

A day in the life of Lyndy
Not that anyone cares or reads this blog, but here's what my day looked like today. Call this documenting the ordinary & mundane if you're so inclined. As I sit here with a push up in my mouth and type, I really don't care. :-P
6a-7a Rise & shine, shower, makeup, dress, pack lunch
7a-8a Drive to work (listen to worship music & of course sing along), check email, get ready for the day
8a-9a Oatmeal ASAP (hungry this morning!), write thank you note to sweet little 6 year old boy at church who gave me a Valentine card & chocolates awww discover I lost something, try to find that something, make a phone call, leave a message, a coworker calls me "snazzy" (pretty sure it was a compliment...) and another calls my hair fabulous (she's a little over the top but shucks, I'll take the compliment)
9a-10a Try to get organized & make a list to keep track of some of my work, book flights for boss
10a-11a Walk 1 mile with friend around campus (everyone needs a break!), review a new case file, sample some of these bad boys -

11a-12 Meeting w/boss, impromptu hall meeting with auditor
12-1p Butts & guts at the gym (a.k.a. tearing muscle torture), Smart Ones lunch: Chicken Carbonara YUM!
1p-2p Lotsa emailing & work stuff I won't bore ya with
2p-3p Scheduling meetings, review another new case file, analyze & summarize
3p-4p Near meltdown (too much work & not enough time!), more work stuff, agenda for a meeting tomorrow with vendor, recycle some paper (go green!), interview a manager about one of my cases
4p-5p Winding down... end of the day work can't be too intense (kinda like first thing in the morning work)
5p-6p Drive home (more singing along), phone call with friend about trying to get a job where I work, phone call with Mom just to chat, once home take a couple shots with camera for this week's homework (for my photography class), drive to church for a workout with my honey
6p-7p Run 1 mile & walk & chat with honey bunny, return home, cook dinner
7p-8p Eat dinner, watch an Office rerun with my sweetie boosky, read a few pages of Entertainment Weekly
8p-9p Watch Biggest Loser (no commercials thanks to DVR :-), 50 push ups (5 sets of 10 just 'cause these folks inspire me to move more)
9p-10p Read a few chapters in the Bible, eat a push up (the orange kind) and blog...
And that concludes my summary of an ordinary day in the somewhat boring life of me.
Nighty night y'all.

3 day weekend it was...
We took off Friday just because... there was shopping, shopping, more shopping, and a movie (Just Go With It - very funny & cute). A whole entire day spent with my honey. LOVE IT!!!
Saturday I had my photography class, as usual, and we had our first test. OF COURSE I aced it. A+ That means I got every question right. Oh yeah.
Anthony went with a friend to a Sportsfest thing and that night they went to a college basketball game. What's that mean for Lyndy? BOREDOM! Hate being by myself! HATE IT! Wasn't in the mood to scrapbook. Did a bit of housework and went to Dawson's basketball game (took some pics on fully manual setting, no flash-watch out!). I also watched a cute girly movie, Princess Diaries. Yeah, it's old (from '01) but it was good!

A Valentine's recap ...
Me and my squeeze ain't ever made a big "to do" or "hoo-rah" about Vday folks. As my boss's boss said earlier this week, it's not a real holiday and Saint Valentine isn't even a saint. But I digress...
On Sunday, we had to watch a certain cutie pie so his mommy & daddy could go and celebrate Vday. We were glad to oblige.
Anthony and I exchanged sweet, lovey-dovey Vday cards expressing our love to one another. Aww But on Valentine's we both had to work (work gets in the way of the fun stuff, doesn't it?) and that night was his pee wee basketball practice for the team he helps with (the team that his nephew Dawson is on) so there was no squeezin' any celebratin' in on Vday. So Tuesday, I forgot to lay anything out to thaw for dinner (what a tragedy) so we decided to go to Carrabba's that night to sorta kinda celebrate Valentine's. It was tasty AND we had a gift card (thanks Mom!).
