Valentine Ladies Breakfast

What a lovely group of ladies...

What cute table decorations (great job Karen and Delois!)...

We exchanged Valentines...or notes of encouragement...
just tellin' a sister hey, love ya!

What pretty brownie bites (they were tasty and then there was the icing... and a nice surprise came when you bit into a yummy, gooey heart-shaped chocolate on top...I love Valentine's Day!)...

No, people, I'm not a jack o' lantern.
It's VALENTINE'S. I tried some orange. (Me no like)

Me and two of my bestest friendses Lisa and Annette...

Me and my 'lil sis' Bridgett. Ain't she a doll? Oh to be young again...
We went for a run after the yummy calorie consumption.

And last but CERTAINLY NOT LEAST me and my cute lil momma...

Fun times...

Hamburger helper hazard

There was a little mishap in the kitchen tonight...

It was really because the skillet (which was a wedding gift ~11 years ago) was on its last leg handle. Should've thrown it out, but I really liked the doggone thing...til tonight that is... bye, bye skillet. It was nice knowin' ya.

I told Anthony it could've been worse... I could've gotten hurt. It could've been a bigger mess than it was. And at least I was flexible enough (and the right size) to climb back behind the silly stove and clean up the mess.

After all that, I could still smile and ask my beloved to take a pic of me. ha!

*Footnote: I have never been a fan of Hamburger helper. Anthony loved it for the longest and then he got tired of it (thank goodness). Well, we recently tried one kind and we actually liked it, so we were trying another flavor tonight. It's just ironic that that is what I spilled. And even more ironic - after all of this, I recooked it (I had more meat) and it was not very yummy. To quote Cher, if I could turn back time...

Sassy scrappers

Here we go!
I work with Angela and Brandi, for the last six and a half years, and they're fun(ny) gals and great friends! And scrapbookin' with 'em is mighty fun!
We scrapped for about 5 hours!

Hard at work!

Each of us have our own unique style of scrappin' and that's cool. Brandi scraps a lot of her (adorable) little girl who's 2. Ang scraps her and her boyfriend...and her sweet momma. I scrap a lot of me and Anthony, and the family stuff on both sides. My scrapbook is kinda like our "book of life" since we've been married. I'm a little OCD so it's in chronological order.

If you wanna see my scrapbook, you'll just have to pay me a visit.
I can't spoil it for ya and put 'em all on this here blog.

Why I'm apparently CRAZY

I just spent an hour on this... and it's for an eight year old... that is why I'm crazy!

This ain't no Hallmark card people - it's a one of a kind, Lyndy original...
much cooler than a thoughtless, store bought card

And of course you can't forget to doody up the envelope! Isn't the string on the ballon "blowin' in the wind" just presh?! I made the letters crooked on purpose btw.

I used some leftover scrapbooking ribbon, an extra pic of Dawson I didn't use on a scrapbook page, and my Cricut machine (a scrapbooking toy) was the source of the cute birthday cake (Stretch Your Imagination cartridge) and words in blue (Feelin' Groovy cartridge). The "Happy Birthday" phrase is in a birthday stamp set I have from Stampin' Up, as is the "Hand Stamped" cutie pie little stamp on the back.

I scrapbooked today so I guess I was in a crafty sort of mood. And didn't feel like running into a store for a generic birthday card. Is it just me or are most of the kid birthday cards a little cheesy?! Well, hopefully SOMEONE will appreciate the effort I put into this here card. ha

Why I'm a lucky girl

Because I sit here on the computer with my sweet kitty in my lap listening to my talented hubby play his guitar... yesterday's weigh in was a good one (lost a pound, thanks to running 14 miles this week)... we had a yummy soup tonight (homemade version of Olive Garden's zuppa toscana) that turned out pretty good (but I need to tweak a bit before posting the recipe...there was a little "incident" with too mucha the green stuff in it ha)... Lemon bars are cooling and awaiting a sweet dusting of the powdered sugar variety....they took the snow out of our weekend forecast.... photog class homework is DONE... and tomorrow I'm scrapbooking with two of my gal pals from work.

LIFE IS SOOOO GOOD!

Why I love our DVR

Had a rough, busy, stressful, tiring day at work, came home, didn't want to cook dinner, sweet hubby took me out to eat, got home...
  • watched last night's American Idol
  • tonight's American Idol
  • tonight's Office
  • Tuesday night's Biggest Loser
And that, friends, is why I love our DVR. If you don't have it, get it. NOW.

Dreams

Do you have a recurring theme in your dreams? I'm one of those people who dreams EVERY NIGHT. I think I always have... I have a recurring dream about getting lost in my car driving on the interstate. I'm ALWAYS by myself in the dream and I usually end up coming to a split and not knowing which one I'm supposed to take. A few nights ago (in my dream) I remember having Mapquest directions on a piece of paper and they were one way, TO the place (no reverse directions). Of course there was all kinds of traffic on multiple lanes and I was coming up on a three way split and I had to make a choice...next thing I know, I see a big green interstate sign mentioning IOWA! What?!  When I woke up, I remembered the GPS...why wasn't I using it in my dream? Who knows?
Anthony always dreams about getting shot. Hmm...

Bryson, the "ink artist"

Since we don't have kids yet, I have to sometimes use the nieces or nephews for funny stories... and tonight I have one for you about Bryson... this is a shot of him from Christmas -

He's a funny little dude and this story is secondhand but cute nonetheless.

We went to eat Friday night and ended up getting to the restaurant about the time Anthony's parents were finishing eating. They said we missed it. They told us Bryson had been in the office (alone) and had apparently gotten bored because they saw him come through with all kinds of "doodles" on his face. It seems this little kindergartener decided an ink pen made for a great tool for a little "body art." Picture it: inked eyebrows, mustache, beard and circles on his cheeks. (So bummed there's no pic to show you!)

When my inlaws saw it they pitched in to help with the clean up. As Pepaw started scrubbing, he found more ink on Bryson's arms, his attempt at a custom design tattoo, and then an inked belly button (that ink may be there til he graduates high school). Memaw told the little guy his mom (who was in the restaurant's kitchen at the time) was gonna be mad and asked what he was gonna tell her. After thinking it over for a couple seconds, Bryson said, "I guess I'll hafta make somethin' up." (insert stifled laughter here with an attempt to keep a straight face in front of the kid...actually I think Pepaw just turned his face to the wall) Upon further consideration, Bryson said, "I think I'll tell her I fell asleep and McKenzie did it to me." McKenzie is his 13 year old sister, and I don't even think she was there.

As they say, boys will be boys...

Two days of random things...welcome to Lyndy's mundane life

  1. I was late to work yesterday (stupid snow)
  2. The one bright spot of the morning (yesterday) was the first person who saw me complimented my hair (and seeing as how I'm like a week overdue for a haircut, that was pretty cool)
  3. The dude beside me in yoga class breathed like Darth Vader
  4. Forgot to decorate a coworker's cubicle for her birthday (oops!)
  5. Tried some new lotion of Angela's...loved it...gotta get some....it's Shea Cashmere hand cream from the True Blue Spa collection. Bath & Body Works here I come!
  6. Got a haircut today (gonna try a slightly new style...hopefully)
  7. Sat through a boring meeting at work, daydreamed during most of it
  8. Splurged at lunch today hehe had Taco Bell (mmm)
  9. My boss complimented my work (because I pretty much rock at my job)
10. (because of #8) Ran 2 miles :-)

Now, let me go count my blessings because even though I have a kinda monotonous life at times, I have a sweet husband who loves me (and sometimes spoils me), a cat that's cute as a ladybug, and family and friends that are the best!

The lint trap story...

You may be wondering what this is...or why I posted it on this here blog... well, this pic, my friends, is a pic of the lint I pulled from my dryer lint trap tonight. Now you're probably thinkin' that's too much lint... have ya been drying a herd of sheep or what?
If you know me, you probably know I'm pretty forgetful sometimes. (I'm the yet uncrowned and unadorned post it note queen.) It seems I've not emptied the lint trap in a few loads... I'm a weekend laundry girl. So over the weekend I probably did three loads. But the thing is, I probably didn't empty the trap last weekend either. hehe Oopsy!

That's my segue into "the lint trap story." When Anthony and I got married, we had both been living at home with our parents. Now I had done laundry, but Mom was cautious about what she let me loose doing. ha (There was the time my dad ended up with some pink undies because of a stray red item Lyndy didn't notice in the load...and then the time I washed his brand new overalls and turned everything else in the load a lovely sky blue in the meantime...sorry Daddy!) My mom's dryer was one of those where the lint trap, the tiny little lint trap, was in the door. So when you opened the door, the lint kinda stared you in the face... Anyway, when we got married Anthony's parents blessed us with a brand spankin' new washer and dryer as our wedding gift. *Note: I did not read the user manual. So inexperienced laundry-doing Lyndy did laundry to her heart's content... for weeks... and weeeeeeks.... until one day I noticed this little rectangular thingy on the top of the dryer. I flipped the sucker open (out of curiousity) and what to my astonished eyes did appear but a big ole HUGE wad of LINT! Or maybe I should call it a block of lint. I mean seriously...it was like 3 inches thick and "longer than a rake handle" you might say exaggerate. It was so much that it had bent the metal mesh trap thingy just so it could hold it all. Someone later told me that was a fire hazard. Praise the Lord that isn't a part of this story... but you would think after that, I'd be really mega extra super duper careful about that. But I'm not perfect...and other, more important and interesting things apparently cloud my mind. :-P

So that my friends, is my lint trap story...
