Oreo balls (for Haiti...kinda)

Wanna know what I've been up to? This 'n that. And makin' these yummy little things I like to call Oreo balls. Some may call 'em snowman poop, but who wants to eat something with the word poop in it?! A guy brought some to work a couple years ago, but his wife wouldn't let him share the recipe. <sigh> My friend Brandi (who could make a mud pie taste good) figured out how to make 'em and what's super cool is, there are only THREE ingredients. SCORE!

1 bag Oreos
1 block cream cheese (softened)
1 package almond bark or white chocolate or vanilla candy coating (don't use the chips)

First, crush the Oreos to a pretty fine consistency. I use a small food chopper.
Pour the crushed Oreos in a bowl and add a block of cream cheese. Blend with electric mixer until cream cheese is mixed in really well.

Roll into small balls and place on wax paper and refrigerate for about 2 hours. (I always put mine on a cookie sheet for easier transfer.) If you don't have that much time, you can put them in the freezer so they'll set.

Melt half the tray of almond bark/white choc/vanilla candy coating in microwave (1 minute, stir, then 15 seconds at a time to avoid burning). Dip the Oreo balls and put back on wax paper until set. Repeat for remaining.
This is the yummy, tasty, sinfully delicious end product....

I'm making these little treasures for a bake sale. Tomorrow a local church in our little town is holding a carnival fundraiser to raise money for an adoption... the adoption of these two little ones in Haiti -
My oldest brother Jonathan and his wife Michelle are the excited adoptive parents. Michelle went on a mission trip to an orphanage in Haiti earlier this year and fell in love with these two (a brother and sister). They've prayed about it and feel God's leading to adopt them both. They married off Sasha (last summer) and just sent Caleb away to college so it doesn't look like their empty nest is gonna stay empty for long. lol Kerby and Kerlandy will soon become part of the fam. Hopefully my little Oreo balls will contribute a few bucks. I may have to hide 'em from Michelle. ha She has a major weakness for 'em.
