Why I'm apparently CRAZY

I just spent an hour on this... and it's for an eight year old... that is why I'm crazy!

This ain't no Hallmark card people - it's a one of a kind, Lyndy original...
much cooler than a thoughtless, store bought card

And of course you can't forget to doody up the envelope! Isn't the string on the ballon "blowin' in the wind" just presh?! I made the letters crooked on purpose btw.

I used some leftover scrapbooking ribbon, an extra pic of Dawson I didn't use on a scrapbook page, and my Cricut machine (a scrapbooking toy) was the source of the cute birthday cake (Stretch Your Imagination cartridge) and words in blue (Feelin' Groovy cartridge). The "Happy Birthday" phrase is in a birthday stamp set I have from Stampin' Up, as is the "Hand Stamped" cutie pie little stamp on the back.

I scrapbooked today so I guess I was in a crafty sort of mood. And didn't feel like running into a store for a generic birthday card. Is it just me or are most of the kid birthday cards a little cheesy?! Well, hopefully SOMEONE will appreciate the effort I put into this here card. ha

Why I'm a lucky girl

Because I sit here on the computer with my sweet kitty in my lap listening to my talented hubby play his guitar... yesterday's weigh in was a good one (lost a pound, thanks to running 14 miles this week)... we had a yummy soup tonight (homemade version of Olive Garden's zuppa toscana) that turned out pretty good (but I need to tweak a bit before posting the recipe...there was a little "incident" with too mucha the green stuff in it ha)... Lemon bars are cooling and awaiting a sweet dusting of the powdered sugar variety....they took the snow out of our weekend forecast.... photog class homework is DONE... and tomorrow I'm scrapbooking with two of my gal pals from work.

LIFE IS SOOOO GOOD!

Why I love our DVR

Had a rough, busy, stressful, tiring day at work, came home, didn't want to cook dinner, sweet hubby took me out to eat, got home...
  • watched last night's American Idol
  • tonight's American Idol
  • tonight's Office
  • Tuesday night's Biggest Loser
And that, friends, is why I love our DVR. If you don't have it, get it. NOW.

Dreams

Do you have a recurring theme in your dreams? I'm one of those people who dreams EVERY NIGHT. I think I always have... I have a recurring dream about getting lost in my car driving on the interstate. I'm ALWAYS by myself in the dream and I usually end up coming to a split and not knowing which one I'm supposed to take. A few nights ago (in my dream) I remember having Mapquest directions on a piece of paper and they were one way, TO the place (no reverse directions). Of course there was all kinds of traffic on multiple lanes and I was coming up on a three way split and I had to make a choice...next thing I know, I see a big green interstate sign mentioning IOWA! What?!  When I woke up, I remembered the GPS...why wasn't I using it in my dream? Who knows?
Anthony always dreams about getting shot. Hmm...

Bryson, the "ink artist"

Since we don't have kids yet, I have to sometimes use the nieces or nephews for funny stories... and tonight I have one for you about Bryson... this is a shot of him from Christmas -

He's a funny little dude and this story is secondhand but cute nonetheless.

We went to eat Friday night and ended up getting to the restaurant about the time Anthony's parents were finishing eating. They said we missed it. They told us Bryson had been in the office (alone) and had apparently gotten bored because they saw him come through with all kinds of "doodles" on his face. It seems this little kindergartener decided an ink pen made for a great tool for a little "body art." Picture it: inked eyebrows, mustache, beard and circles on his cheeks. (So bummed there's no pic to show you!)

When my inlaws saw it they pitched in to help with the clean up. As Pepaw started scrubbing, he found more ink on Bryson's arms, his attempt at a custom design tattoo, and then an inked belly button (that ink may be there til he graduates high school). Memaw told the little guy his mom (who was in the restaurant's kitchen at the time) was gonna be mad and asked what he was gonna tell her. After thinking it over for a couple seconds, Bryson said, "I guess I'll hafta make somethin' up." (insert stifled laughter here with an attempt to keep a straight face in front of the kid...actually I think Pepaw just turned his face to the wall) Upon further consideration, Bryson said, "I think I'll tell her I fell asleep and McKenzie did it to me." McKenzie is his 13 year old sister, and I don't even think she was there.

As they say, boys will be boys...
